Our Commitment to Sustainability
Edrich Lumber, Inc., has been purchasing logs from local landowners, land development companies, and arborists for over 60 years. As a member of the Maryland Forest Association and the Maryland Delaware Master Logger Program, we at Edrich Lumber understand that forests are about more than just a supply of raw materials. Forestry is also about more than producing logs for our mill. They can be many different things to many different people. Forests are also home to a tremendous variety of wildlife, producers of clean drinking water, and places for recreation.
To provide these additional benefits through time, along with a steady supply of raw materials, is the essence of true sustainable forestry. In order to help us implement sustainable forestry, Edrich Lumber, Inc. helped form the Maryland Forest Association over three decades ago in order to help the state develop Forestry Principles to guide day-to-day forest management operations.
For more information please go to www.mdforests.org and www.md-demasterlogger.com.
Edrich Lumber, Inc. is a participant and supports the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®). SFI is an independent organization comprised of conservation, forest products and academic groups dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management. The SFI label is a sign you are buying wood and paper products from well-managed forests, backed by a rigorous, third-party certification audit.
Each state has unique, but somewhat similar rules regulating forest management activities such as reforestation, erosion control, and water quality and wildlife protection. At a minimum, Edrich Lumber, Inc. is committed to meet these rules. However, our foresters recognize that these rules identify the minimum acceptable standards.
As such, we often exceed the minimums in order to remove these renewable resources from the forest while still protecting the other forest resources such as water quality and wildlife.
